Joshua S. King was born in 1735 in Fauquier, VA.  He married on 12 December 1751 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford, VA, Martha Fristoe who was born in 1725 in Wales.

Their children were as follows:

i.        Robert (Robin) King b. 15 Mar 1755 in Virginia

ii.       Richard (‘Dicky”) W. King b. 7 Jan 1762 in Culpeper, VA

iii.      Joseph King b. about 1768 in Fauquier, VA

iv.      William King

v.       Joshua Thomas King b. after 1770 in Culpeper, VA

vi.      Mary King

vii.     Margaret King

Joshua King is listed in the DAR Patriot Index, Centennial Edition, Vol. II.

His will was probated 7 Jun 1802 in Harrison County, KY.

NOTE:  I previously had information that Joshua King was the son of William King and Hannah Curle, and that information is on numerous Ancestry family trees.   The following information has been provided by K. Everingham:

While working on my King family I discovered an error is being spread about the parentage of Joshua S. King of Harrison County, Kentucky.  While I’m sure I’m going to annoy a lot of people, I’m also sure that everyone wants their ancestry to be correct.

 The William King who married Hannah was born c.1740 at Elizabeth City County, Virginia.  He was younger than your Joshua S. King who was born 1735 at Fauquier County, Virginia!  William married Hannah c.1763 and after at least 4 other children Joshua C. King was born c.1777.  Joshua married 15 Feb 1800 at Norfolk County, Virginia Ann Williams who survived him.  Joshua wrote his will 6 Feb 1803 (after the will of your Joshua was probated at Harrison County, Kentucky) and died within the year as his widow remarried 24 Mar 1804.  None of these people lived anywhere but Elizabeth City County as evidenced by their presence in the annual tax lists: William, 1782(when the lists began)–1796(when he died) and Joshua, 1793(when he turned 16)–1802(when he died).
