My Personal Memories of William Arthur Ransdell (1912-1977)

I certainly can never forget the only relatives we city kids had who lived on a real farm -- Arthur and his family.  That was always one of our favorite places to visit.  The only time in my life I ever tried to milk a cow was at Arthur’s.

He worked as a mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership for many years.  When I worked in Cincinnati (1959-60) I rode with him and his two daughters to work every morning.  We were all rather quiet and still sleepy through the commute, especially as we approached the inevitable traffic jam at the bridge, but I remember Arthur being calm and patient no matter how bad the traffic was.

I remember going to the Ransdell reunions and seeing some of the beautiful home canned jars of food his wife would always bring.  She was a great country cook with a big smile and friendly greetings for everyone.

After he retired, Arthur and his wife got interested in flea markets and garage sales.  They enjoyed traveling around, looking for bargains, buying and selling.

Arthur and his wife had 3 children, two daughters and a son.  The son was:

William Arthur (Bud) Ransdell, Jr., 23 Feb 1944 - 10 Aug 2006
