Ruth Mary Hopson was born September 19, 1910, at Logansport, West Virginia, the third of seven children of Thomas Jefferson Hopson, Sr. and Sarah Margaret Walter Hopson.[1]

Ruth married William Lloyd Bailey (son of Emitt Bailey and Mary Mascal Bailey) on October 8, 1932. They had four children:[2]

i. LIVING.

ii. Brenda Ann Bailey (died at age 2)

iii. Carl Victor Bailey (1937-1955) (died at age 17; drowned on high school graduation day)

iv. LIVING

Bill and Ruth lived in Virginia most of their married lives. In the late 1970s my family and I were living in northern Virginia and I had several chances to visit with Ruth, and have her and her family come to my house once when my parents were visiting. She seemed to have an excellent memory and enjoyed talking with me about her parents and siblings.

Bill Bailey died in February 1980 and is buried in the Bailey Cemetery, Prosperity, West Virginia[3]. After Bill's death Ruth lived with her youngest son and his family.

Ruth died in 1987 and is buried beside her husband.[4]
