Olive Mae Hopson was born October 13, 1908, in Kincaid, WV, the second of seven children born to Thomas Jefferson Hopson, Sr. and Sarah Margaret Walter Hopson. She attended Morris Harvey College and taught school for a while, then had a long career with the government.

Olive's first marriage was to Harry Boyd on 4 March 1934, but unfortunately Harry died very young, and Olive was single for many years.

On February 18, 1955, Olive married Paul Goodwin Browning who was born in 1904 in Falmouth, Pendleton Co., Kentucky, the son of Nicholas O. Browning and Kate B. Fishback Browning. Paul's first wife was Sophia M. Mardis (1905-1949) and they had two sons.

Olive and Paul lived in Falmouth, Kentucky, during their marriage until they retired to Hobe Sound, Florida. Olive died on June 17, 1990, at the age of 81. Paul died in 1994 at the age of 90.
