Elizabeth Cornwall (about 1785-after 1850)
John Ransdell was born in about 1775 in Virginia and came to Kentucky with his parents and brothers and sisters in the 1790s. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Cornwall in Mercer County, KY on August 6, 1805[1].
The earliest record of John Ransdell is a deed dated 30 Dec 1797 when he received 50 acres of land in Mercer County deeded to him by his father and mother[2].
His father William's Division of Land filed in 1830 names the heirs of John Ransdell, indicating he was no longer living in 1830.[3]
John's Division of Land was recorded in 1832, listing his heirs[4]: widow, Elizabeth, James, Orletha, Shelton, William, Sanford, and Jane Ann Ransdell.
The 1830 Mercer Co., KY census lists Elizabeth, but her husband John is not listed.
The 1850 Mercer Co., KY census lists Elizabeth's age as 65, living with her son Shelton.
John and Elizabeth had six children:
i. James ii. Orletha iii. Shelton[5] (1809-1871) iv. William v . Sanford vi. Jane Ann |
