Probable 1st generation:
Edward Ransdell
was born about 1646 in either
England or Virginia, according to postings on the LDS website. From Vol.
XII of Historical Southern Families by Mrs. J. Bennett Bodie, p.
13: “The Ransdell family seems to have originated in Maryland, for an
Edward Ransdell is mentioned in St. Mary’s Co., MD in 1661 and 1666
(Archives of Maryland, Vol. 53, p. 631; Vol. 57, p. 283). Edward Ransdell
of Westmoreland Co., VA is probably a son of this earlier Edward Ransdell.”
The LDS postings also show that this first Edward Ransdell’s wife was
Elizabeth Rannow. As with most LDS postings, there is no source given
